MOULD + DECKLES

2023. As a STEAMhouse Artist Member I worked with a 3D print technician to develop A6 Mould and deckles using fusion 360, 2D + 3D sublimation printers. I also wanted to create interchangeable deckles that would include organic shapes.

Bespoke Mould and Deckle

In collaboration with Wood Work Technician Jan Waterston, I designed and created a Mould and deckle with traditional elements. This M&D was created for Clare Hewitts Arts Council funded sustainable book project Every Thing In The Forest Is the Forest. The purpose was to make bespoke hand crafted 290x180 100% mushroom paper sheets. This was a fascinating and challenging process forcing me to slow down and appreciate the time + skill that goes into working with wood + the by gone craft of Mould + Deckle making.
